Karen Reddington-Hughes, Abrash Galleries Rugs andAntiques of Woodbury, will present a talk “Oriental Rugs and the Stories TheyTell” in James Morris Reading Room, 4 North Street in Morris, on Thursday,December 1, at 6:30 PM.
The speaker will share many stories and tales of theoriental rugs from China, India, Iran (Persian),Afghanistan and Turkey. Karen will bring an assortment of textiles to show tothe audience. The patrons will be able to explore the rugs by feeling theirdifferent textures.
This is acollaborative event of the Morris Public Library and James Morris Reading Roomand Museum.
Karen Reddington-Hughesis the owner of Abrash Galleries Rugsand Antiquities, 40 Main Street,Woodbury, CT.  She lives with her husbandJohn and son John Christian inWoodbury and has been a resident since 1990.
Karen hasgiven rug lectures on the art of the oriental rug throughout the Litchfield Countyarea and has over 20 years of experience in the rug trade. She works with both corporate and private interiordesign firms with the acquisition, maintenance and appraisals of one ofa kind pieces. Providing a peerlesscollection of antiquePersian, Turkish, Chineseand Indian rugs isboth her passion and her pleasure. AbrashGalleries is celebrating their 18th year in business.
