Sidewalk Improvements Planned for First Week of October – Pedestrian Access and Parking Limited

0Comments

The Town of Winchester Street Department, through the first week of October,  will be performing limited improvements to the existing sidewalk from the YMCA Driveway located at 480 Main Street to High Street.  The work is intended to smooth the sidewalk to remove tripping hazards.  The sidewalk and parking will be closed along segments of Main Street from Monday, October 3rd to Friday, October 7th.

Pedestrians  will likely be able to bypass the work area during the proposed  construction during the day. However, if at all possible, please use  alternate routes or times to avoid the construction area during this  period.  Some parking spaces will be closed and some entrances to shops  may be temporarily inaccessible.  The sidewalk and parking will be  opened to traffic outside of working hours (7AM to 3:30PM).

The  planned work on the sidewalk will create dust.  Work crews will be  taking every possible effort to minimize the dust created.  However,  some dust will be unavoidable.  The Town of Winchester appreciates the  patience and cooperation of the public during this effort to improve the  safety of the sidewalks.

Please contact the Department of Public Works at (860) 379-4070 with any questions.
