Soldiers Monument Event-September 11, 2022

September 11th we stop to remember the attacks on that fateful day  in 2001. We should never forget that devastating day in US history when  thousands of innocent lives were lost.

September  11th also marks a date in Connecticut history when men and boys mustered  into service with the Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. This date was of  such significance to them that the Winsted Soldiers’ Monument was  dedicated on that date in 1890.

Please join the Soldiers Monument Commission members at the monument on Sunday, September 11th from 2-4 when we proudly

present a program at 2:15 entitled:

Men of Valor: Winchester Men in the Mountain County Regiment, 1862-1865.

This  will be a brief overview of the battles the 19th CVI (also known as the  CT Heavies and affectionately referred to as the Mountain County  Regiment) participated in along with biographical sketches of some of  the soldiers.

Following the presentation, we invite you to join us for an ice cream social on the grounds of our beautiful monument.
