Town of Morris issued the following announcement on March 24.
On Thursday March 17th, the First Selectman presented the Selectmen’s 2022-2023 Budget to Board of Finance. This budget proposal was created by the Selectmen’s office after months of consulting with the Town of Morris department heads, Town Treasurer and various vendors for the Town.
With the proper use of contingency and fund balance monies, there should be no increase in the Mill Rate for the Town of Morris in the Fiscal Year 2022-23 with the budget presented by the Selectmen’s Office. The Board of Selectmen reviewed the budget and was unanimous in approval of the proposed budget.
The next step is for the Board of Finance to review the budget and provide their input where necessary before sending the budget to the taxpayers for a vote. We invite anyone who is interested in the budget process to attend their meetings to learn more about the budget before the vote. The Board of Finance has been offered the use of the Zoom account for the Town of Morris for their meetings which will give them the opportunity to hold hybrid meetings to allow greater transparency and the ability for more public involvement in this very important budget process for our Town.
The copy of the budget attached is not final, but was unanimously approved by the Board of Selectmen and is now before the Board of Finance for review.
