  • One CT ENT patient describes balloon sinuplasty as "simple" and "straightforward."
  • According to the patient who had the procedure, he felt 100% within 7 to 10 days.
  • Of patients who receive the procedure, more than 95% see improvements of their symptoms.
Michael Kish credits CT ENT Sinus and Allergy for improving his quality of life upon going to the office for a balloon sinuplasty.

Kish said in an interview that prior to the treatment, he was unable to do his job for a bank call center because of excessive coughing as a result from getting COVID-19. He ended up getting pneumonia and was unable to work for six months. Kish said the balloon sinuplasty made him feel better right away.

"The procedure was pretty simple, pretty straightforward," Kish told Litchfield Hills Today. "I didn't have to go under for it, which was nice. They numbed the area and did it. It was quick. It was no more than 10 minutes and I was already off the table. It was very easy – no pain. I would definitely say the quality of service at CT ENT was great.”

Balloon sinuplasty, also known as balloon catheter dilation surgery, is a procedure to clear blocked sinuses, according to Healthline. This surgery is relatively new, having been approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2005. It’s also commonly referred to as the “smart sinus” procedure.

Balloon sinuplasty is most often recommended for people with chronic sinusitis, after other treatments for their condition have been ineffective. Balloon sinuplasty is fairly straightforward, and reported complications are minimal. There’s no cutting and no removal of bones or tissue.

“I might have been having issues and didn't realize it, honestly, but breathing is easier," Kish said. "I have a little more, I guess you'd say stamina, like going for long walks. I'm not as winded as I was before, so that's definitely a plus. Sleep has been easier; I knock out when I go to sleep now.”

Balloon sinuplasty is becoming more popular because it has fewer risks and a quicker recovery time than traditional sinus surgery, according to Good RX.

A study of more than 1,000 patients who underwent balloon sinuplasty procedures found that more than 95% saw improvement in their symptoms, and none of the patients reported any adverse events as a result of the procedure, according to Fierce Healthcare.

"I had to do an allergy test as well," Kish said. "The quality of service and the care that was that was given to me there was amazing. So, I highly recommend if anything needs to be done – not just the procedure I had, but anything – I would highly recommend [them]."
