The Harwinton American Legion Post 137, in conjunction  with the Harwinton Vol. Fire Dept., will be conducting a flag retirement  ceremony on Saturday, June 11, at 1 pm (rain date is June 12, at 1 pm).  The location will be at the town property on the corner of Bentley Dr.  and Litchfield Rd (Rte. 118) adjacent to the red recycling garage.  The  purpose is to respectfully and properly dispose (via burning) of used  and worn American flags.  These flags have been collected by towns,  organizations and individuals over the past year.  Youth organizations  are encouraged to attend.  Bring your old, used and tattered American  flags.
