Town Of Winchester issued the following announcement on April 1.
The Winsted Water Works Education and Outreach Team is partnering with the James McCarthy Scholarship Fund to provide an internship/scholarship program. Two qualified individuals interested in discovering the crucial role a water operator plays in the treatment of drinking water and wastewater are being sought. The program will cover all things water, starting at the reservoir with filtration and disinfection, exploring distribution and collection and finishing at the wastewater treatment plant. Their vision is to introduce someone to the water industry and provide them with the training and certification necessary to be prepared to compete for a career in this essential and highly rewarding field.
Please note the following qualifications for the James McCarthy Scholarship Fund:
- Age18-65
- Must have current and valid driver’s license, and proof of eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Interest in improving communication skills, working with the community
- Interest in environmental or public health careers
- High school diploma or current student in good standing
